How does counselling work?

Counselling is a form of therapy that helps people make changes in their lives.

It is a supportive process that allows individuals to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviour in a safe and confidential environment.

Counselling is different from talking to friends or family because it is a professional relationship between the counsellor and the client. The counsellor is trained to listen in a non-judgmental way and to help the client explore the issues that are concerning them.

Counselling does not involve giving advice or telling the client what to do, but rather helping them to understand their thoughts and feelings better.

How do sessions work?

Counselling sessions usually last for between 50-60 minutes and the number of sessions required will depend on the individual and the issues they are facing.

During the session, I will listen to you and ask questions to help you better understand your feelings and behaviour. The goal of counselling is to help a person find solutions to their issues and to become more aware of themselves and the choices they make.
